Venue – Luce Loft
Welcome to our first venue review/recommendation!
We paid a visit to Luce Loft, this eclectic/vintage location in the
heart of the San Diego east village/ball park district. Located on J
Street between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue, and clearly labeled, it
wasn’t hard to find. Parking was both across the street and right around
the corner which was nice, and it seemed fairly quiet area for a
Vaulted ceilings with a spacious first floor and quiet loft with ample
room, kitchen area, 2 bathrooms, and a shower makes this venue perfect
for wedding receptions, or any other cozy event you could imagine.
Established in 2010, it is part of the old Carnation Dairy Building,
originally built in 1927, and was declared a Historical Landmark in
Zack was our initial point of contact when inquiring about the location.
He was extremely helpful and professional in every way. After discussing
what we were trying to accomplish, he was extremely accommodating and got
us in touch with a client who was having an event in the near future. We
were able to get in contact with the client who graciously welcomed us
to come in and get a few shots at the beginning of her event.
When we walked in, we weren’t exactly sure what to expect. We had heard
that the venue was to be decorated for a birthday party, but we really
had no idea what we were walking in to.
We arrived 30 minutes before the party to get a few shots without being
in the way. There was a table set up with boas, masks, and pearl
necklaces. Staff was already working hard putting together canapes and
elaborate appetizers. There was a photobooth present and the room was
decorated with beautiful vintage seating and decor. Flowing fabric
draped from the ceiling on one half of the room while bulb lights draped
the other. The details were clean and quaint. The centerpiece for the
room was a beautiful branch decorated with Mardi Gras decor, surrounded
by nibbles of decadent cheeses and grilled vegetables among other tasty
treats. One of the kitchen counters held decorative jars filled with
candy, color in line with the Mardis Gras theme. AND there was cake (of
course). Beautifully decorated and detailed…again in a Mardis Gras
We were warmly greeted by the Lauren of Joie De Vivre Weddings and
Events. Super sweet, cool and calm, and finishing up on the final
details. We commented on the vintage decor which turned out to be
provided by Pow Wow Vintage Rentals. The venue is like a blank slate and
could easily be transformed into about anything you wanted it to.
As the crowd started coming in, a jester, juggling pins and balancing on
a ball took his place outside the front door. Definitely a first time
for us, but a great idea nonetheless!
So, all in all, a great experience from beginning to end! We would
definitely recommend this venue for a reception – or any other party for
